Landscape is everywhere, but sometimes its beauty is very much in the eye of the beholder. Every once in a while a completely novel idea grabs me. Sometimes the easiest thing to do is grab a box of pastels and start chalking. Other times I get stuck on a region like Sedona, or the succession forest of northern AZ and paint many versions of what I see and experience. Sometime ideas merge from different perspectives altogether such as the aerial landscapes spinning out of Fractal Dreams. - Jake
Expressionist landscape pastel paintings by AZ expressionist painter, Jake Beckman. Sunset over the Pacific ocean, windmills as sunset in the California hills, a lazy river scene at sunset, Grand Canyon overlook as a storm rolls in, scarlet ibis in a mangrove swamp, Colorado hills reminiscent of the African veldt and other scenic beauty.
